About Filtrona Extrusion - Tacoma
Our
Tacoma extrusion plant was founded in 1951 as Davidson Plastics Company,
the first custom extrusion operation in the Pacific Northwest. The company
started with 10 employees, 4 extruders and a blown film machine located
on Fairview Avenue in Seattle, Washington. By 1980, Davidson Plastics
had grown to over 45 employees and 8 extruders. Shortly thereafter, a
second manufacturing plant with 8 additional extruders was established
in Kent just a short distance away from the original plant. In January
2000 Davidson was acquired by Bunzl plc and then demerged to become part
of Filtrona plc in June 2005.
Today, Filtrona Extrusion in Tacoma operates out of a state-of-the-art facility constructed in 1997. With 106,000 square feet of space, 32 extruders operating around the clock and 160 employees, Filtrona Extrusion is ranked as the 67th largest thermoplastic extruder in United States.
Filtrona Extrusion in Tacoma manufactures both Proprietary and Custom plastic profile extrusions. Our Proprietary products include Davidson Traffic Control Products, which include products for pavement marking, delineation of roadside traffic barriers, and separation of traffic in interstate reconstruction projects. Also included in the Proprietary product line are our chain link PDS Fence Products. Fence Products include both decorative screening products for chain link, as well as privacy applications for chain link fence.
Custom Product sales include products used in industries such as health & fitness, windows and doors, refrigeration, recreational vehicles and automotive, marine, swimming pool, cleating and store display.
